Disposable Ban - What we know so far (29th Jan 2024)

Our prime minister Rishi Sunak has recently confirmed the governments plan to ban the sale of disposable vapes.
We don't have all the information yet, but here's what we know so far....

Rishi has made it very clear he wants to create our 1st smoke free generation. To do this he has already proposed a new law, making it an offence for anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 to be sold tobacco products – effectively raising the smoking age by a year each year until it applies to the whole population. This has the potential to phase out smoking in young people almost completely as early as 2040.

With vaping becoming increasingly popular, he has also decided its time to act on several areas of vaping to ensure our younger generation are not attracted to the industry. The number of children vaping has tripled in the last 3 years. We are all for this and are 100% behind keeping our children safe.
Vaping has always been intended to get people off cigarettes, and its intention was never to start people vaping without ever smoking an actual cigarette.

With no confirmed date, disposable vapes will be banned in the UK, and it looks like its going to be a total ban with no grey areas.
If we look at the cost effectiveness for the consumer, alongside the negative impact they have an our environment (millions discarded every week) this is an essential move for the UK.
Some people love the convenience of a disposable, and although they do (did) have a place in the industry there are plenty of pod systems and kits which are super simple to use and will save consumers plenty of pennies.

Other laws which will be changing include:
Flavour Restrictions
Plainer Packaging
Vape Display Restrictions
Vaping Alternative Bans (ie Nicotine Pouches)
Larger Fines for Those Continuing to Sell
